Seems to be very few of us making a contribution these days. One or two replies to catches and hardly any fishing crack. I can't justify carrying a camera and tripod to every session so I'm not going to bother anymore. The forum's been getting quieter for a while,I hope it picks up but can't see it unfortunately.

It's a shame that one of the few regular posters felt the need to bin the forum off because activity on it is dwindling. That's hardly likely to improve matters. However, it largely seems to be the way of forums. As much as I prefer them to the likes of Facebook, it does look like they've largely had their day. The majority of those that remain active on forums appear to be forty-plus, and largely resistant to using Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The one thing that does bug me about forums is the number of non-participants they attract. There are a lot of non-contributing information gatherers out there, and I'd prefer not to make their lives too easy at my own expense.
However, the biggest issue I see is that the number of active anglers seems to be dropping year on year, especially on rivers. I've had a whale of a time on the Tees in the last month or two. I've seen the odd car parked up, but I've seen just two anglers in over twelve recent trips to the middle Tees. One was on the opposite bank, the other a fly angler. I'm amazed that so many of the river based clubs are still getting by. There must be quite a few folks that join them and never/rarely fish.

I would love to put my outings/ results on but ive hardly been out as business family etc are running at 100mph! To say im pi..ed off would be an understatement, supposed to be easing off when i turned 60 but its just not happening at the mo! i just cant get out, had a few sessions on swale a bit back and even tho i blanked i just loved getting away and being on the bank, i cant contribute any fishing chat just bollocks of late , hope the forum doesnt fold cos i for one love reading the the tales on here while having a coffee, its escapism for me

Forum picks up around this time I think more of us fishing for pike and chub than summer fishing. I will write a report some time of my summer season so far I've had quite a few sessions out. Best part of the season is now in my opinion

Same as everyone else, work and life are getting in the way of fishing. Been to a lot of overgrown rivers and neglected ponds and have generally blanked! Not really reading material. Hope it picks up with some grayling trotting soon.

Ok not many entrees from me this year despite plenty of fishing. However not many interested in my exploits catching silvers on the lower Tees and Leven. Or catching carp from commercials. Had some really good bags of fish off the river and nearly always the only angler fishing. Just when the anglers in the various clubs go fishing on the rivers but for sure not when l do. Perhaps now we are heading into autumn and winter l will have something to say relating my chub hunting.

I basically seem to be in the same boat as most, I was hoping to start my pike campaign this week but the rivers haven't played ball, I probably could have gone and tried to find some slacks but with the water colour and the debris coming through it would have just been a waste of time more than likely and not enjoyable. I agree with Sam forums are a fickle thing, especially with the boom of fb pages in recent years, theirs basically a multitude of pages for every single species to the extent of information overload, but for those that use fb it's a whole lot easier than logging into forums and certainly easier to upload your pics and edit them, as for lurkers all I can and have done is block the important boards to them, only by participating with x amount of posts are they unlocked, but sadly lurkers are everywhere these days and if you do want any info it's all to easily found on social media pages anyway. I wont be closing the forum, I cant see the point in that, its here even if only one person uses it and hopefully it will pick up 👍👍😉

As with all forums people will come and go - but a lot of regular posters just seem to have drifted away, and there has been little new blood to compensate. I still post if I have a decent day - just not had that many this season so far! I’m still at it and will post if anything of interest. No idea how to make the forum more vibrant but it does obviously mean a lot to a few regulars. It does to me as I got a lot of help and info here when getting back into fishing a few years ago, after a long time away... Good to see Mick will let it continue to tick over.. it may just rise like a Phoenix from the ashes! Best time of the year coming up - let’s see some great river chub and pike..

It's been a mixed year for me iv nailed barbel fishing big time 28 in 11 trips two doubles , I love it but divorce and tough times means haven't been out in 6 weeks or so
The forum has been awfully quiet this year ,but it didn't affect my love of the fishing but it's Sods law the year I crack it the forum is so quiet .
I agree about river fishing though it's dying year by year iv said a few times our generation ages 35 to 70 or so seem to be the only ones who bother and there's few less each year , it's very sad that the next generations won't experience the wonder if river fishing unless it's through a virtual reality app on an iPhone or PC

Agree with everything said here about how useful the forum’s been and the decline in numbers going out at all on the rivers. On numbers out fishing, on the more far flung stretches we’re at the stage now where it’s actually less about clearing a path through the undergrowth, and more about actually finding somewhere bankside willows don’t prevent access entirely. What stops me putting stuff up more regularly is twofold: I’m no cameraman, so nothing to contribute on that front, just posting the odd pic as proof of capture; and secondly, not having the depth of experience to add much to what is otherwise a fairly humdrum report.
But I do get a lot from the detailed reports the likes of Graeme, John/Jaques, Andy and Steve are currently doing, so I do hope they’ll continue. It’s much appreciated.
Once the river’s settled after these early autumn rains, I’ll be out after pike and chub, so will make a point of putting something on here, even if it’s a blank or just the odd fish. And should it get back to being mild, I’ll keep on with the lures for pike, so that might offer some interest, even if results aren’t spectacular.
