Nowt wrong with VBWs Stu! I'm off to Scotland pike fishing today (well, chilling with a bit of pike fishing really). I've never had a decent fish out of Loch Ken. Hope that changes.

Info for latest works party ( Sun 2nd Aug) -
Undergrowth is now thick on the river banks and on Sunday we'll be strimming and clearing this at Paradise Gravels (Newsham Grange).
Our first priority will be the popular 'nettles' swims at the bottom of 'Heart Attack Hill' and we also intend to spray herbicide on small areas where members put there boxes to deter re-growth.
Please join us if you can and if you have any suitable tools they would be a great help. We will have two petrol strimmers for the heavy stuff but weed slashers, shears, machettes etc. always make things easier.
A tea mugs essential. Coffee and tea will be available.
We'll meet in the car park on the road down to Newsham Grange Farm at 9.00am and carry on until around 12 noon - 1 pm but if you can only spare an hour or so we'd still be happy to see you. Any help we can get in improving the river is always welcome.
Please join us if you can
Stockton Angling Limited
I should be able to get out for a few hours, hopefully a few others can too ?
let me know if anyone needs directions.

How to get to Paradise Gravels (Newsham Grange).
Head for Yarm. From Yarm High Street turn turn left immediately after crossing Yarm Bridge. From Stockton turn right immediately after the traffic lights before Yarm Bridge.
Go through Aislaby and carry on until you come to a 90 degree right hand bend with a sign facing you saying 'Newsham Grange'.The car park is down this track on the left.
From Darlington head for Middleton One Row then carry on through Low Middleton. You'll eventually reach a 90 degree left hand bend with sign and the entrance to the track on your right.

Next works party -
This Sunday 23rd Aug at the Caines
Info from works party emails -
The Canes This is a beautiful fishery that isn’t fished much due to the severe difficulty of access to swims. Each year new undergrowth chokes swims off and this is the second time this year we are tackling the problem.
How To Get There From Yarm take the B1264 towards Low Worsall. Carry on for about 3 miles after Low Worsall until you see a small signpost on your right saying Winterfield Farm. Turn down this track and carry on past the first farm (slowly please) until you come to Fardean Side Farm. Go through the farmyard to our car park.
What Time? We’ll meet about 9am and carry on until about 12 noon to 1pm. There’ll be tea and coffee so don’t forget your mug.
