Monstrous specimen landed by lure angler is new world record. The world’s largest perch has been caught at a staggering weight of over 10lb. The fish, the largest specimen of the species ever caught on rod and line, was hooked by a lure angler in Poland Weighed in at a colossal 10lb 4oz, the amazing fish came from the river Vistula – Poland’s largest waterway – with experts believing the age of the fish is in excess of 40 years old. The impressive fish smashes the previous best for the species which the International Game Fish Association records as 6lb 6oz, caught in Finland in 2010.

I don't know why people make idiots of themselves with claims like this. At the 5lb 4oz it really was that is still a fish any angler would be proud of. There was a similar situation on the Swale last season with some guy claiming to have caught a 16lb barbel, later identified as of a fish of approx 12lb. I'd have danced a jig if I'd landed a barbel of that size.
