Harrowgate Hill & Haughton are both CIU working men's clubs. Will probably have to be a member to gain access. Was a member of one when I was a kid but got thrown out after not paying one year, I was a student to be fair 😅

Im getting confused dj Stockton have access Yes Andy it's Adtac water, Sam I correct it's not actually called girsby that is opposite bank that can no longer be fished, can you not see the pics and directions I put up?? Like I said just Google sockburn lane on maps and go there, you can only drive as far as the hall gates anyway, you'll see the first access point and parking, it's difficult to explain on here, it's just one of those places you need to go and figure it out yourself for it to make sense 😉

Hi Mick There's no parking up near the Hall is there? I must admit on the very rare occasions I go that way I drive up to the public path you mention drop off my gear and go and park up on the ATDAC grassed area, get my gear on and walk back up. Not to bad on the way back, once your up the hill it's down hill to the car thankfully. When I see up near the hall, I mean about 200 yards or so before the hall entrance, on your right hand side on the grasses verge near the bungalows 😉

The only Sockburn parking is at the end of the tarmacced road by the houses, just before the keep out signs.
As for access, either go through the white gate on your left (as you arrive), that's E1 and takes you quickly down to Girsby bridge Or walk straight on down the lane (untarmacced by this stage) until you come to a white gate on your right, that's E2. Go through gate and walk straight ahead to the wood. Look out for posts painted green and white, to guide you. Once you're at the wood you'll see the steps which take you down to the river. There's about seven pegs off to your right, or turn left and you can work your way through the wood and as far round the rest of the whole stretch as you've energy for.
E3 takes you straight down to the lower pegs, but to get there you've got to walk to the end of the untarmacced lane, until you come to a white gate and cattle grid on your right. Better go in at E2 perhaps if its your first trip.
Hope that helps.
PS The E2 and E3 walks will be wet and muddy after this rain, and the steps slippy.
