No chance of getting out tomorrow with storm Ciara on her way. The weather was due to worsen throughout the day so I thought I'd get a couple hours in on the Tees before it got too bad. Got settled into a peg before dark and although the water was a nice colour it was very low and definitely in need of the rain we're going to get over the next couple of days. I wasn't there for a long session bearing in mind the forecast so only took steak and liver for the hook and liquidised bread with mince to feed by hand and only needed a small link leger to fish close to an overhanging tree down the nearside. Started getting taps and knocks with the odd bang almost every cast but no proper bites I could hit, chub can be so frustrating at times, but it may have been only small fish having a go but not picking it up properly. After a couple of hours I got a proper pull on the tip and landed a fish of a couple of pounds and a short time later I managed this fish that I didn't bother weighing but made the trip worthwhile. The wind was getting worse,it started to rain, and as soon as branches began coming off the trees I called it a day. Had better sessions but anything other than a blank and I'm happy and nice to see good numbers of smaller chub in the Tees, had a few out on my visits recently.

I was out yesterday too, nice in the early morning sun but when that wind came it was a bit naughty, more flow in the river too than there should have been for the levels, so I guess they were running off at the barrage
Nice to catch though, I'll put something up later in a different section

Good to get out and achieve a catch. Me when after chub just dont have the patience to wait. Even if l am getting tap tap type bites. If nothing l can make contact with l will move to the next swim.

I'd have moved on and returned to the peg later but I have a few rules when I'm fishing in the dark and not moving is one of them just for safety's sake. Never had so many tentative bites in a session, just part of chub fishing I suppose.

They are a strange fish Graeme, all manner of bites at different times. Mine were full blooded bites last week but generally have been quite tentative at times this Winter. Keeps it interesting!

I thought it was only me. On my last few trips I've been getting those bites, even the chub I've hooked have been shy bites when usually I get wraparounds. Had a few drop off aswell which is something that hardly ever happens. Got to the stage where I started to question the rig so I messed about with it but made no difference and went back to the original I've always used.
