Anyone heard any catch reports ?
Roach fishing of course, I've heard about it but no idea on depths, methods, rules etc.

Not had any recent reports, I know it's recently had a restocking of course fish since it closed it's doors as a fly fishery, but older reports were of plenty of roach coming from the dam end, but I've never fished it, I know there's a few on here that have so I'm sure someone will pop along with a bit more info 😉

Walked the dig around several times this winter but not a soul fishing. Looks good but when l have fished it have only seen action from the dam wall. Also with the prevailing south westerly wind it can be very uncomfortable fishing the dam wall on a cold day should the wind be strong. For sure there are some quite deep areas close to the bank on the car park side. How these fish though l have no idea. Back in the trout fly fishing days it could fish very well in the shallow Whitby side working from the big concrete block down towards the dam.

Thanks for the info. A couple more questions.
What kind of depths are there around the res.
Are there any bait/groundait restrictions.
Are keepnets allowed.

Just found this thread as missing the fly fishing there , Lockwood is by large a very shallow water for its size with pretty uniform depths of up to 8 to 10 ft , once you get past the shallow areas that is , however there is three deepish areas , one of which is much deeper than other two , the first deep area if you walk along dam from parking area is about half way to the little building about 59 yrds out from dam there's quite a big area of arround 20 ft of depth , then if you walk to where the big pipe is , and use that as your marker , if you cast 40 to 59 yards you'll find the deepest water on the lake of arround 35 to 40 ft deep , in the hot dry summers trout would congregate there and you could have a field day with fast sinking lines and teams if small lures .
The rest of the water is very uniform but if you walk round to the point where the heck comes in , and face the dam the bay to your last has a long channel half way accross of about 15 ft deep .
These depths were recorded by a fish finder many times by season ticket holders .
Lockwoid was a great place , but not somewhere I'd look to fish anymore , and I hope they have come up with a solution to commorants or they will lose a great deal of stock , there's always a couple on there most I saw working it one day was six , back in the fly fishing days Gordon the owner did what he could to deter them with little success

I'm not joking about the cormorants lads it's one of the reasons amongst others Gordon jacked it in as trout fishery , tench might do ok but skimmers and bream will get destroyed , half dozen cormorants working that lake will hammer the stick of fish

agree with the black death population.
catches have dramatically reduced, not as prolific as it was and less anglers.as said my mate is or should I say was a regular, even he is going to pastures new.
