Hi, my mate and I are Thornaby members, he has just joined, and I have been a member for a number of years, but rarely fished the waters. Now we are both retired, we are getting out once a week, usually Monday/Tuesday. We are not really very knowledgeable regarding how to fish some the waters available, which waters fish well at particular times of the year etc. and could do with a few tips. We have had a go at the ponds, and are confident about those, and have fished the LTAA stretch a number of times. We are looking to get to some club/association waters with 'not too difficult' access with trolleys etc. (we nearly died dragging our trolleys back up the hill at Ingleby Farm), we are not too bothered about specimens etc. we just want a few days out and a few tight lines. Any thoughts? Cheers.

If ease of access is the issue then Yarm AA is probably the one to go for. Most of their fishing is similar to Thornaby's at Ingleby Farm, but with easier access. Have a look at their website for more info.
As for ATDAC, on the whole you're talking about more of a travelling light/roving approach, in my book anyway.
Use this site to let people know how you get on, good days or bad days. Then you'll find others reciprocate with advice/experiences.

yeah agree with ATDAC you will be walking for at least 10 mins before you see the river on their waters unfortunatly. what about bowesfield nature reserve I'm sure you can fish there on thornaby card? only a short walk to river and pegs are nice and flat

If I’m honest, on thornaby water at Croft there are two parking spaces, both of which are pretty close to the river. You’ve then got a stretch of water at top and bottom limit to fish. Problem is the circa 3 - 4 miles of water in between that form the loop. Some nice pegs close by though.
Stockton has some smashing water but I’m struggling to think of pegs where you don’t have a decent walk, even up steep banks etc. Yarm is probably a good shout, good access to cater for the match anglers etc and they have two nice ponds in halnaby and turlwick
