This is a very old pic of me with my pb chub from around 1995,it weighed 6lb 2oz,although the pic doesnt do it justice, this pic was taken on my phone from a photograph..hence the shine to it,it was from the atdac water at piercebridge ,caught on a minnow.we used to bike to piercebridge from darlo in them days..fully laden..i reckon 14 mile round trip,i could be wrong. And i did like me barbour jacket...cost me a packet, but the brolly in the background i still have, bought in 1987...60 inch brute that weight a ton.So as you can see i wasnt always a piker Attachment Deleted

it looks like an old warrier,i remember back then getting rods dragged off the rests, ive even got a pic of me wading back after retrieving my rod i think...savage chub back then..plenty of fours and fives ..but you had to land the bait in the hole..or it was nothing,,,..maggots just got you grayling or trout..

I spent 3 winters on the bounce trying to catch a tees 6lber, gave it up as a bad job, never did make it, they're a lot lot rarer than most would have you believe
Some rods back then though, would'nt like to go back to using them now, compared to what we use now its almost a lifetime away, gears moved on in leaps and bounds since then

The Piercebridge stretch is one that I mean to target every season for chub but always seem to end up elsewhere. I gave it a few sessions a couple of years ago and had 1 chub knocking 5 pounds further downstream in the woods. It's very snaggy, just had a lump of plasticine on the line and a big bit of meat. I think the rewards are there,it's just not an area that sees a lot of coarse angling pressure and the access down the farm road at Manfield will probably wreck your car! Travel light from Holme House, some lovely looking pegs as you get down to Glebe Farm. Maybe next season .
