Well some of the sharper eyed members might have noticed that the date stamp on some of my pics have been a long way out, reason being that the battery cover has been broken for a long time now and has been held together with a couple of laggy bands, not ideal as it interrupts some of the cameras functions and it plays havoc with the date/time stamp on the pic as well as draining the batteries

Its been a good one and well used for work as well as fishing but time for a new one

Its been a fairly chunky one with a good hand grip which for me was important as I suffer badly during the winter months with whitefinger meaning that fingers swell and small fiddly buttons are a nuisance

The lures are there just for a comparasism in size, for those interested in lures the top one is a rapala magnum deep diver and the bottom one is a yo-zuri jointed deep diver

I use rechargeable batteries for my camera as they last for yonks and I always have a spare pair charged up ready to swap if needed

It had a decent screen and easy to use functions and fairly decent sized buttons for when my fingers swell and a decent shape to grab hold of if not on a bankstick
What to buy though, no idea so off to Currys/PC World to see what they had and whoa what a choice, some very good cameras on offer with a range of prices and cameras with all sorts of functions. Had to get a camera with similar body shape and big buttons and simple functions as cold wet hands and a lively fish on the bank aren't good companions
I had a play with a few and discounted some nice models just on the small buttons that they have, don't want small hard to operate buttons in the middle of winter so had a hold of a few and eventually plumped for this one

Lures are still there as a guide showing the new camera is a bit smaller than the original, 16mega pixels and a easy menu to follow, plenty of functions in the camera and the threaded hole in the bottom to take the bankstick adaptor

As you can see its got the shaped body for a good grip in crappy conditions, it takes the same AA batteries as before so result there, ordinary alkaline don't last long so if anyones looking for rechargeables go for the highest mAh rating you can as you'll get much more shots from them than alkaline or low mAh , mine are 2650 mAh so last a while

Back of the camera has an easy to use function/menu layout and easy to use even if you've got a hand full of stubby fingers

Takes decent pics at 16mega pixels and you can add a few effects to your shots if you feel like you're in a David Bailey moment
Good points; 16mega pixels ,seems pretty robust, easy to use zoom system and an easy menu but best of all its only £39 at the moment
Bad bits: no hard case and the camera lead to connect to the pc is way way too short, if you plug into a tower stack the lead isn't long enough to rest your camera on the desk or table you're sitting at, you need an USB extension to plug into to keep your camera up off the floor
Will give it a good testing out over the winter and see what I think long term Attachment Deleted

Looks good bri.
I've been using a canon dlsr recently, with a variety of lenses, but mainly because I'm trying to improve my photography. I want to try some astrophotography as well, just trying to find the time to do it.

I used to be in the RAPS, Redcar Amateur Photographic Society for many a year myself, with an Olympus SLR and a bagful of lenses , filters and bits and bobs, used to do loads of slides and wasn't too bad at it, all the slides, projectors and screens and gear are in the loft now and the only camera I use now is the little compact set on auto
