Took this shot on The Wear at Shincliffe just as I was about to pack up. The fishing was poor but I was quite pleased to come away this photograph of the sun setting over the river.

Nice pic Graeme.
I've recently (last week) forked out some money on a bit of equipment, canon dslr camera and a couple of lenses. Something I've always wanted to do is produce quality pics of night skies, as well as some time-lapse photography. Purchased a Giga T Pro II now and I've been learning a few things yesterday and today - did a piece on the clouds moving across the sky which I was impressed with, but the 10 second gap between pics was actually too long, and the white balance was on auto which makes the lighting vary between shots - some things to change for next time anyway.
I'm going to try photographing stars to get a star trail under bulb mode with a long exposure shot (15 mins or so shutter release!).
Hoping for a clear sky tonight anyway.....I wont be out long enough to do a timelapse vid tonight (an hours shooting with 30 sec exposure pics will get you about 4 seconds of time-lapse video!!)

It'll take up more time than going fishing,Jim Never tried time lapse before, plenty of bulb mode though, just make sure you carry a spare battery coz you'll use a lot of power. Get some cheap ones off ebay, the Canon's are expensive just for having the name on. If you use something like Lightroom for your edits you should be able to alter your white balance to suit whatever you want. Night shots have real atmosphere, the light can be great. I know the gear can be expensive but all of these places to visit are free, like you it's finding the time whilst still trying to get out fishing that stops me from doing more of it
