Ferryhill Field work party postponed due to heavy rain and high winds
All forecasts predict heavy rain and high winds on Sunday morning. It is not due to clear up until late afternoon.
Working in these conditions will be uncomfortable and slow. We will not achieve anything like the results we get from working in good to reasonable conditions and it makes sense to postpone our efforts until next weekend.
The banks we are improving at the Ferryhill Field are extremely steep and slippy in places. Damp conditions don't present a problem but continuous rain on top of undergrowth covered mud can present a serious safety issue. The club possesses automatic life jackets and a 30 metre 2"safety rope for working over deep water but there's no need to take these risks if we don't have to.
The work party will take place next Sunday, 7th June, same time-same place. I'll post a reminder later in the week.

Stockton Angling work party this Sunday
Just a reminder that the work party postponed from last Sunday is on again this weekend.
Thanks to John Broomfield and Frank Davison who are managing the work party this time and also to Daz Brewster who is collecting and delivering the club tools on Sunday morning.
Safety work on steep banks We'll be meeting around 9.00am. We'll be starting by strimming out last year's cleared swims but we will try to build as many sets of steps as possible down these potentially dangerous banks.
Directions. Head for Yarm. From Yarm High Street turn turn left immediately after crossing Yarm Bridge. From Stockton turn right immediately after the traffic lights before Yarm Bridge.
Go through Aislaby and carry on until you come to a 90 degree right hand bend at Low Middleton. Carry on again until you see two field entrances side-by-side on your left. We're meeting at the next field gate down the road.
From Darlington head for Middleton One Row. We're meeting at the next gate on your right that has a 'Stockton Angling private fishing sign.
