Have a look at the 42" korum mate, pretty good and largish mesh which helps with the pike

The important thing for the river is a handle of good length. 2.4m or above in length id recommend.
I use a drennan twistlock which I find spot on and very strong. I couple that with a cheap keenets 42" landing net. I wish a firm would provide a 42" triangular net, rubberised, that can connect to a long handle

Barbel I have drennan Twist lock combined with the Korum folding spoon net (24" i think)
Pike I think it's a J R C triangle net with its own handle not sure on sizes (I think the nets 36" and the handle's 1.8m long)

I personally wouldn't go overboard on a net for pike but like Jim said, a good strong handle is a good idea.
I went on eBay and bought a 42" wide mesh net, 2 metre handle with screw fitting for transporting (would prefer an 8'), float and stink bag for £23. Any rips I repair with fine fishing line till its ready for the bin then I've got two spare mesh's in the cupboard. All folds away and goes in my quiver.

Gardner net handleJust bought the above, a good solid net handle. I bought a 36" dinsmore triangular net off ebay which was reasonably priced and has lasted well. I originally bought a 42" but found it too big and it was always getting snagged. ABU do a foldable spoon net which has good reviews.
