not a lot of people know that windermere is free fishing.providing you have a current up to date rod licence you have mile upon mile of fishing.there is a little day ticket water but majority of the fishing is absolutely free.
ive fished windermere on several occasions, mainly from a boat when targeting the pike, but some cracking bank fishing can be had for all species including roach and some very large pike.its full ov nooks and crannies and although its not an easy venue due to its shear size, fun can be had catching very large bags of reasonable size roach.jacks are plentifull, most of the larger fish tend to stick to the deeper channels, but it dosnt mean to say that they cant be caught moving in for the large shoals of both roach and perch, the latter getting into real monsters.
for the game anglers amongst us,there's a massive abundance of brown trout with a few rainbows to boot.a run ov sea trout and salmon that run the lake to spawn are also a target species, and if you feel like a real challenge the arctic char is another species not known to a lot of waters but this lake is one of the waters that holds a prolific amount.
boat fishing is reasonable and boats can be hired for as little as £20.00for a half day hire session or £30.00 for the day.holding 4 anglers its a small amount to pay for the water you can explore.i would advice that if boat fishing is your query to take your own depth and fish finder, its a big sheet of water and location can be difficult.
