it is strange looking almost eel like from the front of the dorsal onwards.
cracking tees fish all the same.reckon its the way its been held.if that right hand was lower supporting the underside I reckon it would have taken a better photo.

Awesome fish. I think it's the way it's held.
As for keepnets, if they were weighed during match you would be relying on honesty. Tough one - I personally feel they should not be kept in a net, especially with that point my dorsal fin which can catch.

yrs ago when I was a nippa we had stewards on our matches more so the swale matches who would weigh barbel so they could be released strait away.shame something similar couldn't be put in place.

I think its just the way its held, very strange way to hold a good fish in my opinion. And its dorsal looks like its been damaged by the net

Defo just a shite photo, cracking fish.
The barbel shouldn't be kept in keepnets, especially on a stretch that is hammered with matches. They shouldn't be counted in matches much the same as pike.

couple of stewards who could weigh and verify who arnt taking part in the match, trustworthy ones.
easy option and no harm done to fish.ude think they would have fish welfare at hand.
used to see some of the seven lads fish there matches when I worked up there and they would have around 30-40 barbell in nets used to sickin me rite off.and that was the old type mesh aswell not this new gear
