How do you find time to go fishing? I go to work 6 days a week but finish early a couple of days so in the summer months I can maybe get an evening session. As soon as the clocks change then I can only get out on a Sunday so I'm always checking the weather and river levels. I laugh at those magazine articles that say "an area of low pressure and a westerly wind were forecast for Tuesday so I was on the bank at 4am". No chance mate,I'm going to work. I've got no kids at home and a wife who thinks I'm nuts getting up at 5am on a winter's morning but never complains so that's not a problem,it's the other demands on time that make it difficult. I like gardening, watching Northern League football, and photography but just don't have the time to give them the commitment I would like because fishing comes first. Do you make sacrifices, take a sickie,or ignore everything and just go fishing?

I grab short sessions when I can. I also gave up going to the footie and rarely go out for a beer anymore. Currently I can get 1 decent session and 1 early morning/evening night session in, but I'm going through a bit of a career change and I reckon I'll struggle to get out once a month later in the year. I'm hoping to get shift work 2 weeks on and 2 off eventually which will suit me and should give me a fair amount of time to fish on the off shift.

Like most of the replies, demands of family and work restrict me to about once a week if I'm lucky.

up until last wk, it was every spare minute i had, i,d head for the river (even lake sometimes now)... no chance in mid-wk when on late shift, sometimes an afternoon session mid-wk on early shift, but almost deff every wk-end (both sat & sun)...the mrs kindly gets my baits, maggots, worms etc in advance, spend hours in the kitchen doing my (her) home made ground bait recipe & special hali-paste... that was until i had a good long think whilst blanking on a 4 hour swale session last sunday.......... think its about time i gave a bit back, i,ve been very spoilt & feel rather selfish now, its been me, me, me.... lol as of this wk-end, friday night, its gona be a few hours in the local club chilling with the mrs, sat i,m taking 6yr old grandson to hutton, sunday poss out for a carvery with the mrs.... she,ll be in shock!!! its the new ME (promise)
