As title. Just wondering what you guys would recommend, I've for away with budget float reels for the last few years, but I'm getting a bit of a bonus next month so after a proper quality, smooth float reel for the rivers.
Budget, up to £175 mark. I've heard daiwa make good ones - this is one of those rare occasions that I won't be buying drennan lol.

Rubbish thats tackle tart talk !! tell me why you would say/think that ?? some so called feeder reels make better long trottin reels than so called float reels because of the longer and deeper spools , so you can load em with heavier or lighter lines and the run off is better, same as some float reels are crackin short feeder reels and so on

Just looked at ya link Jim and forget match reels spools are way to shallow for all round river work imho

hmmmmmm, shimano's are the bizz, but I reckon the tdr will make a better reel.i used to use the team daiwa td1350 yrs back and they was blob on.the new ones are even better.preston reels seem to be on the ball aswell, although I would still go for the tdr.
dnt listen to mick he's into his fladens lol

Can't go far wrong with shimano, but £175 on a reel is a lot. You could get a P2 for that I still use the old shimano aeros and can't fault them, but I have heard that the front drag Preston's are very good.

Nope.... Aye don't get me started about a P2! I want one, but the wife would probably go berserk if another rod came through the post. Anyone offering to accept delivery on my behalf
