Not to long before them rivers are open, to us non fluff chuckers, i for one cant bloody wait, im getting sick to death of puddles now and need to get on running water, don't get me wrong i don't mind puddles, but i've never really been able to get over excited about fishing them, i just don't seem to get the same excitement as i do the night before im off to fish a river stretch, another week or so and i will be sorting out and topping up all my river gear, already been out walking the banks fish spotting and finding new swims and features that look like likely holding areas, only down side is i know these last few weeks are really gonna drag now !!

mate im no diff cant soddin wait.ive maybe not done as much puddle chuckin as most of the lads on ere throughout the closed season due to all sorts of obstructions, but know were your coming from bud.i don't do the excitement bitt either on puddles, dnt get me wrong I enjoy it when im there but its an effort getting up and going.i maybe should have got my fly gear out early on and got myself down there.
few old stretches of the tees im looking forward to getting on with boro and the stretch at skipton bridge both old haunts so really looking forward to them.just purchased another dave Harrell concept 18-20 so cant wait to get that in the water.
lets hope we have a better yr weather wise and we can finally plan a seshion.its cost me over 200 notes in the last 3 wks on terminal tackle alone and line/new braids,so thoughs weather gods better be kind, with the odd flood of course.

Ive found Skipton to be productive in the summer when the levels are down a bit or normal, dont think it handles water going in to well along there, im deffo gonna give ainderby a go this year been hearing some good stories and reports of some nice fish along there

I tend to find around august onwards for skipton.love the shallow water on the stick, strett pegging it.you can bump some weights up along there.ainderby is a banker on the shalla's.had a few ton bags on there or close too.dnt know about now cos we going back donkeys but for me they are ideal sticky/wagg waters.me Harrell concept my old one is were I first tested it out(skipton)opposite side of the bridge mind and it made a massive difference.had a lot of bules along skipton, again opposite side October onwards, but the boro water holds some nice fish on the deep water on the bend in a flood fishing inside line.cant wait me,this closed season malarkey is frustrating,i never really got much fishing done the last two seasons but by Christ im gonna make up for it this season for sure, going all out.

Know what you mean,Mick. I'm quite happy fishing stillwaters during the summer months but don't look forward to it as much as the rivers. Not bothered if a carp comes off but suicidal if I lose a decent chub. Stillwater for fun, rivers for serious fishing. Just my opinion,I know lots of good anglers who've never seen a river for years. Each to their own but I'd rather sit it out with a big lump of meat on a river than catch carp all day.

Youve got it bang on there mate, i feel the same when i lose a fish on the river, on most stillwaters you sort of know what to expect and what it is youve lost more than likely, but on a river you will just never know what size that chub or barb couldve been you've just lost

5lb Tees chub and Tees barbel over 7lb, swale fish would have to be a 7lb chub or anything bigger than 6lb 8oz as that was my pb last year, and double whisker, pike i would be happy with a 20 from either those are the fish im giving all my efforts this coming season to

you got it spot on lads, oooohhhhhhhhhh the thought of river fishing..... yum.... no targets for me......fishing is FISHING, Good luck to you all for next season. I,m just glad things are getting a bit easier now, looking back not so long ago, i couldn't walk the length of my street without stopping 3 times (last September) stay healthy and you can catch or blank, but if your healthy, you CAN fish. PS, I don't mean to babble on, but what good lads I,ve met through this fishing lark, and again thanks for all your help & support....

Shane your a diamond mate, honestly the perseverance and effort you put into your fishing even when you could hardly walk never mind fish is inspirational mate and never a truer word was written when you say if your healthy you can fish, wise words indeed fella, might jump in me car and drive round yours for a cuddle lol

Spot on there,Shane. Staying healthy is as good a target as you'll ever set. I'm leaving The Wear alone next season and gonna spend more time on The Tees, especially the upper areas of the Association water. There's miles of it that hardly sees an angler, game fishermen excepted, and it's got to be worth a real effort. Target wise? No blanks will do me

could say that me and shane have had it a bitt rough these last few months.my target is just to have a season were I am out as shane says health helps you get there.no targets for me think ile have to venture to further river systems to get another pb fish I want.that aint gonna happen so to be out fishing with me mates and on me lonesome, would make an awesome season, cos the last two have been pants lol.
