I love the pin for the odd chub n silvers.but for me if I were going for the big boys pike/barbs ide much prefer to get them beat and brought to the net as soon as possible.can see the fun and excitement in it,and presentation is second to none.but ide keep it for species that are manageable without tiring the fish to exhaustsion.

Many Members of the barbel society use a pin for barbel both for ledgering and float work. Have they not got the fishes welfare in mind?
Get the thumb control and pressure right, couple with strong gear, and there is no reason why you can't bring a big fish to the net as quickly as any other method. No reason at all why they would be tired to exhaustion

ide look strange with a pinn on me neoterics lol.prob find a lot more use other tackle aswell.I can bet if you put it to a vote you'd find a lot more used a pinn less.and agree sturdy gear with a pinn will get them in don't disagree at all but wouldn't want to be stood there doing it for long periods either.it bad enough wen you hook one by accident on the stick a rite song and dance.although it is fun on a pole with black laggy ;)again everyone to there own suppose.can be a mission at times on barbel gear never mind a pinn.
one advantage you can get to thoughs inaccessible bush pegs with over hanging branches were your feeders get stuck in.one plus suppose.
