Well don't know about you chaps but I was slightly disappointed in my fishing this season, don't get me wrong I stilled enjoyed my fishing, always nice to be out by the river but in hindsight I think I wasted to much time from July to late October perusing the Tees Barbel, non landed but lost two. Also last season I was out the banks at least 2 to 3 times per week, this season I was down to mainly 1 or 2 outing per week, no particular reason comes to mind I possibly also had to much of the Tees to explore with joining another club last season gone, mind the storms and high river levels we had from about November didn't help the cause, they cabined us all up in some form or other. Right now for some Pond fishing, looking forward to a few outings with my Son down in the Lincolnshire area, some good lakes around him.
I'm also looking forward to carrying out some maintenance bank work on our club stretch over the close season, branches to get rid of, steps to reshape and support work to patch up, etc, looking forward to that especially with the sunshine beaming down on me as last year, oh and being bit to pieces by horseflys, must make a note to myself to wear long sleeve tee shirts and long pants when by the river working even in the sunshine. Anyway no matter what you all fish for now until the rivers open up once more I wish you all tight lines and hopefully see some of you Carp experts posting some whoppers on here.

As per the other thread Kev I enjoyed my fishing this year but the effort sometimes felt a bit disjointed but only because the river wasnt right
We lost a lot of time pre Christmas due to excess water and we lost the whole of February too, well at least I did, Only being able to fish at weekends often meant the river was goosed when it had been fishable mid week but thats always been the case for me with still working, someday in the not too distant future I'll be able to stick two fingers up at work and make the most of whatever comes my way
Summer afloat this year again for me on my boat fishing off redcar on the north sea, looking forward to that and some big extension works at home, going to be a busy year again

Hi Bri Yep understand re working, sorry but I retired approximately 3yrs ago now and loving every minute.
Excellent re boat. Boat fishing is something I always fancy doing nearly bought a dinghy last year, but I would have to Moor it somewhere as my car won't have the power o tow a dingy, I have even been considering looking for a part share in a boat with someone but nothing available when I was considering the matter last year.
I have a little 10ft unit with a 3hp motor at our van in the lakes no good for the North Sea though.

You caught some nice fish kev and you managed to get out a couple of times a week so for me that's a result on its own. Same for me, yes it would of been nice to get some better fish closer to home but it wasn't to be but I enjoyed trying and will continue in trying. Yorkshire rivers for me have been a real result especially for barbel with some trent sessions in the mix aswell. Pike fishing was good I didn't blank much which is good however I didn't manage a beast I still enjoyed trying and again will look forward to this next winter. These next 3 months will soon pass and we will back on the rivers good luck if your out on the ponds.
Bri, I do envy your boat good luck when you get out

Hi Marc Appreciate I'm lucky managing at least once per week. Plus as you I also had a couple of good sessions on the Trent with my Son. Hoping to make more use of my Leeds book, only used it once last season in fact I nearly gave it up this year but for £36 or so it was to good a value to let go, I think the only problem with Leeds is the Travelling although Topcliffe and Asenby are only 40min down the road, I just can't be pestered driving to much theses days, but I will make an effort next season

Good to see a few of you keeping the forum ticking over. Not posted much this season since Winter kicked in - mainly as not caught anything notable! Having said that, I’m not complaining about the season overall, managing double figure barbel from Tees and Swale. Both will live long in the memory. Also a couple of very nice Brownies, lure fishing on the Swale.. Funny old last few months, piking on lower Tees but couldn’t get past Jacks whenever I tried, and didn’t get out for the chub as much as usual due to various reasons..Food for thought from the last evening of the season on the Swale - lots of good bites with big baits but only landed one - last gasp at 2350! Lost what felt a good one near the net too.. hopefully will have a better second half of season this year…. I’ll be back out luring for trout later this month and then looking forward to June.

Remember your early season Tees barbel well, rate that higher than the Swale due to scale of numbers etc. I only heard of two other Tees doubles, one a friend of mine with one at over 12lb and his Son with one about half mile up river a week later at eleven plus.
I've never really been a Pond Fisher but I'm looking forward to that in another couple of weeks or so.

Interesting to hear Kev, things warming up, enjoy your Stillwater fishing. Planning on doing a bit myself as the close season progresses.
