Just walked round bishy mill 6 anglers all clearly know what they doing all been there about 5 hours and two skimmers between them , I also hear Westgate isn't worth fishing anymore hardly ant fish left alive Inc tench , don't know about 2nd fact unless they netted it or summat was never proliffic anyway . But bishy mill kind of annoys me cause it's perfect little lake , car park , pegs everything spot on yet five competent anglers have had two skimmers in 5 hrs , not sure why club bothers with it but if numerous angkers pay a tenner every year why not . I may be wrong and I know what's in there will pick up in warmer weather but unless they gonna have it where you can regularly get ya string pulled I don't see the point , you might as well relax on the sea front or in a park lot less hastle had a cracking year on bishy mill for the carp, best so far 21lb mirror

havent seen a chub come out of bishy mill for a number of years now, the last chublet i caught there was about 4 years ago but have noticed in heavey rain the water flushes out at the far end, that could be taking fish with it

From the last ATDAC meeting I attended both Bishy & Westgate have been fishing quite well. The EA stocked mixed silvers and skimmers and have promised more shortly. There was a lot of work carried out on Westgate following advice from a water quality expert, Dr Worthington if I remember correctly. A lot of willows were cut down and micro chalk to balance the water pH. The fish are only small at present but seem to be growing quite nicely. Both lakes are works in progress and please fill out a catch return if you do fish so we can assess how things are going.

Good to hear, may have to give them a second chance.
What is this atdac meeting you speak of? I thought the 1st rule of atdac is nobody speaks about or knows about atdac dealings 😂

There are regular meetings of the ATDAC clubs, Yarm, Thornaby, Stockton & Darlington Brown Trout. Each club has two delegates for the meetings. I can assure everyone although club members cannot attend, as is the case with most club committee meetings, it is not some mythical Masonic order. If anyone has anything the want to raise then contact your club secretary. We have been putting a lot of effort into Westgate & Bishopton to improve the fishing, working with the EA, who provided fish for stocking last year and hopefully again this year. What we don’t want to do is spend money for fish stocking if we don’t understand what is happening to the ponds

Hi Stu Of all the years I've been a club member I had never fished bishop, until last summer when I took my two young grandsons who are also club members. To be honest I was pleasantry surprised at how nice the place was and the pond was much larger than i imagined. The boys caught a mixture of roach, rud pearch etc.(sorry didn't realise about the catch and release forms) and loved the place. I don't begrudge our ATDAC fees for access to Bishop Mill only, especially for juniors, not to mention the Tees waters they have.
It would make a decent place to be usedv for the occasional youngsters coaching sessions.

Bishopton is outside of my self imposed 15 mile travel limit. However, having seen a few pics of roach bags from there in the last couple of months, I might have a trip out if we have a mild spell that results in too much water in the rivers.

Plenty caught by my two young grandsons last summer, on everything from worm, maggott, sweet corn and even bread, nothing large but I presume there must be one or two in there.
