Gents,
Wondered if someone could assist. Along with the stretches of tees, darlington brown trout also have 4 miles of the swale at Brompton, tancred, tillerton, ellerton and killerby. I know Brompton and ellerton stretches...I'm assuming the rest are in between... But where and are they any good?
Cheers in advance

Hi Jim. As you come from Teesside along the B1263 through Scorton the Swale is on your left. That stretch is Tancred, marked on your OS map Tancred Grange, opposite Catterick Lakes if you know where I mean. Opposite bank was Leeds owned but not sure if it was sold along with the lakes. Killerby Farm is further down the A1 past Catterick airfield, again you'll see it on your map. Sorry, never heard of Tillerton. Long stretches of streamy water, typical Swale really. If you want to have a look go into Catterick Village and turn left down Swale Lane, just past the shop as you enter the village. Easy parking at the bottom of the lane and straight on the river, upstream I assume is now day ticket if Leeds lost it. Brown trout water is opposite bank as you come to the lakes. Downstream is Ferryhills, fished it loads of times, never see another angler and some clonking chub. Had several over 5lb at the bottom end, you'd love it

The Ferryhill stretch bordering the airfield is a lovely bit of the Swale. Unfortunately the club lost the Tees at Middleton-one Row and the Wear at Shincliffe Bridge to Stockton and Durham respectively and I'm already in both those clubs so I dropped Ferryhill a couple of years ago. Brown Trout have the opposite bank, accessible from Ellerton. Of all the clubs who have Swale water I'd choose Northallerton but most of it is available on a day ticket if I fancy a change. Brown trout used to have a waiting list but that was a while ago, been a recession since then. Nice bit of the Tees at Low Coniscliffe aswell,Jim

I think I'll join the coming year if possible. They also have a stretch at middleton in teesdale, that I'd quite fancy for grayling.
