I've never used a pole before and fancy giving it a go so I've saved about £200. Should I go for a second hand 14.5/16 meter or something new like a shimano catana 13 m.

I've had a map tks 125 13m a few year ago and thought it was spot on, you can pick em up cheap now but for the money I can't think of anything better, ask 100 people about poles and youl probz get 100 different answers unless your spending daft money, then you'll get a few of the same poles coming up, wont go wrong with any tks tho, spares are cheap swell.

pretty weighty at 16mtrs but manageable between 13 and 14.4m.i had one pretty solid bitt ov kitt, going back a wee while now like.saying that I never used a spray bar very often should manage it full lengh if you use wanna them.only ever fished mine to be honest at 13 mtr.

You don't need a 16m pole mate, unless your spending about 2 grand its a waste of time, I'm selling my 16m and buying a better 14.5m pole, I think I've only ever fished 16m about 5 times simply because my poles like a banana at 16 so what's the point, better of getting a 13m to get you going.

daiwa sr3 is on the ebay aswell for around 200 notes nice pole to use you would be best to buy a half decent second hand pole first mate as the new cheap poles are either floppy or too heavy mate or if your just going to fish close in up to 10m must have to say the daiwa yank and bank all the time you can pick them up for 100-150 on ebay again mate

go for the best your budget allows fella.£200.00 will get you a gd second hand 13-14.5mtr.dont rush into it.dont let the odd professional repair put you off either, more so if its on your top kitts.tks spares are readily available aswell for coppers.just look about for one with a gd selection ov top kitts.if your not botherd about the lengh you wnt go far wrong with daiwa yank n bank, absolute spot on the ball poles even at full lengh.

just make sure its on the 1-4 sections they easy enough to get hold ov or repair anything after that becomes costly.

Any map TKS is good I have the 425 and the 501 The 425 is an amazing pole as is the 501 but there over your budget Might pick the 425 second hand if your lucky now for about £200 Like I said on another thread the daiwa yank 'n' bank Think it's about £140 max brand new! 11.5m think you get 3 top kits with it rated up to a 22 I know if you smash a section it's only pretty cheap for a replacement think I only paid 25 notes for a spare no4 section If I was to recommend a pole to a new starter it would have to be the yank n bank hope this helps Matty
