Hi
Just joined and was wondering if anyone knows owt about the Tees at Broken Scar. Read it is free from the weir for a fair bit down to Blackwell. Was interested in Grayling if the Swale is a bit high so if anyonne knows if that is still so and if it is much good for the Grayling it would be appreciated.

still free from weir downstream to 300 or so yds before it disapears under the bridge. good all round venue for most species including plenty of grayling fella. you might want to try neasham green and croft downstream of the skern to road bridge and around 600yds at neasham all free and worth a chuck if its grayling your after.

Many thank.
Assuming you mean the A66 bridge, which is the 1st I could see downstream, that's a good long stretch. I like to wander when I Grayling fish so suits me better than Neasham, Croft or Middleton, which are pretty short stretches I believe. Especially as there are usually 2 of us.
Have fished the Northallerton, Richmond & Bradford No1 waters for a good few years, so gladly share what I know in return.

i was in all the above clubs, only kept middlesbrough/leeds and newark piscatorals on now.find myself on the trent more these days. the swale is my number one river, fished it since i was a wee nippa. know what you mean about others been short stretches, yet ive had some tremendous days grayling fishing on them all, more so croft to be honest.
look forward to your reports and hope you get some fun out the forum,we are pretty well laid back and look forward to any info you can add to the sight.
cheers bash.

No fishing allowed for 95 metres below broken scar dam (North East bylaws.) Then its free to the footpath up to blackwell. After that its apparently owned by the owner of the house above! before the final 300 yard to the bridge being Darlington Brown Trout water. Spent all my early years cycling down there to fish. Good luck.

Thanks for all the info, going to have a look Monday.
Probably head up to Broken Scar for 10ish and depending on how I'm doing, might stop off at Croft on my way back to Northallerton for a last hour. Will post an update on my return.
