there is a few free bitts ste but not around thirsk much higher up and not a grt deal of it.quite a bit on beedale beck aswell but access is awfull and very steep banks.just give it a go and hope you don't get moved fella.gd luck bud.some nice lady's in there and you'll prob do as we did and hit the chub when you least expect it.full of grayling and trout.odd pockets of dace and odd bule.minnows used to be a rite pain hence the reason for not using the maggot to much.light lines even fluro's if clear and you should bang a few out.shorter the rod the better I use 10ft float rods and 9ft feeder rods on there.couple ov free bitts with confluence to the swale but again access is hard and parking difficult,if you don't mind a long walk.free bitt is between two club waters not rated highly, but worth a throw if your up that way.your talking up towards topcliff direction only around 100yds ov water aswell.go with what jim says watch the levels, you only have to pee in it and it breaks its banks.fish it with a bitt of colour aswell, its hard wen clear.watch if you wade its surprisingly deep in places.
