hi all, was looking to book up for the river severn next summer (b&b, self catering cottage etc?) cant find a great deal of info re: fishing & accommodation?
anyone got any information on the river dove? searching google mainly shows info on trout & grayling fishing....
hoping someone has fished/booked accommodation targeting barbell & chub?

Didn't matt hayes fish the river dove in one of his recent 24hr rod races? I've got them recorded on my sky box so will have a look. Think he was after a 5lb chub and a 2lb grayling in 24 hours

Shane join birmingham anglers spoilt for choice then unless your getting fishing in with package.gonna cost you around 8 quid a day on tickets so worth it if your doing a few days

you will be hard pushed to find any ticket water on the dove shane, its mainly through a club I tried yrs back without success so ended up on the severn.its prime water and loads ov big whiskers and chub.ide do as I said above you might even get a second outing during the yr or the odd wk'end away.atleast accommodation wnt be an issue then you can dig down anywere and fish different stretches including the teme/stour/severn.there is accommodation out there that includes fishing but your limited on the top beats.i had my Birmingham anglers for ten yrs cos I was back and forth a lot,but even when I didn't travel down there I kept a hold ov it.very cheap and some class waters, specially on the middle teme, not record breakers up to 10lb and mainly smaller but you can sack up conditions being on your side, and stretches you will have to yourself.people through there are more interested in the severn/stour than the teme.bewdley is the area were you want to be looking, prob the most accommodating, and plenty of fish.

for a price of a season club card it works out the same for 5 day tickets, makes sense and even cheaper if your debs is fishing with the discount.she would have to pay 8 quid aswell on the bank.deffo thinking of joining again nxt season.shouldnt have dropped it really, but there again no joining fee so not to bad.

Im very tempted as well for next summer mate, only thing i worry about is i have no knowledge of any of there waters so so would be going down blind and id be unsure if i was fishing a bad or good stretch?? i suppose a few phone calls to the club and they would point you in the right direction, Shane on their website not the fb one but the one Marks put the link up for, that also has links to accommodation in the area

I know the teme and severn like the back ov me hand when and were fishes at certain times.deffo be worth a few ov us trotting down there for a wk'end now and then.we used to hire a van for the wk aswell and kipp in there.spent most of the time on the bank it was that warm,we'd just crash out there under brolly's.best to date was 37 barbs in one sesh of the severn.the teme we had odd bad day but majority of the time 12 fish were a noted target.bait is easy to get hold ov aswell, tackle shops everywere.we'd take two gallon ov maggots with us and casters aswell as the usual baits to last a few days then stock up whilst there.groundbait we'd buy sacks between us worked out a lot cheaper that way.you do need a lot of bait.the competition on the severn is unreal,if you don't match the other anglers bait your fooked.

cheers lads, tell ye what, £35. for B.A.A is the bargain of the year.(did I read it right?) surely not? I,d deffo be up for a few trips in the summer, mark having the river knowledge makes it even better bonus.. (mick I cant find the links for accommodation? on the BAA site). lol read an article on the "3 rivers angling" with reports of anglers getting up to 20 barbel a session? I emailed a guy from the "3 rivers angling adventures" (Trent, Dove & Derwent) Sounded ideal, you tell them what type of fishing/holiday you want & they accommodate....hmmm, not anymore? after sending a detailed email of what I was looking for, I got the following reply.... "Hi Shane, Many thanks for your enquiry. I am changing the way we run things as of next season and I am going to be concentrating on just coaching and guiding packages. If this is something you are interested in please let me know as all of our accommodation will be booked out for these trips"
each to their own....coaching/guided fishing is not what I,m after, its me & the mrs pleasure fishing, relaxing & not held down to any particular times/venues etc. (its classed as our annual holiday break...I'm so thankful the mrs likes fishing.... )
popping into dales later, he said he would get me some info on river severn accommodation off a guy he knows. fingers crossed
