What did folks make of it?
In a way, I was a smidgen disappointed that the locations were quite so far upstream on the Tees. I was rather hoping for something a little closer to Middlesbrough that might be a little more familiar to the coarse anglers amongst us. I appreciate that they will go for the more picturesque areas, but there's plenty between Piercebridge and Yarm that's hardly ugly. Without going as far as they did, there's bits of the Leven that look great, then there's the Swale around Richmond.
However, I did enjoy seeing places I'm familiar with on the programme, even if the closest spot was the Crathorne Arms. It was interesting to see just how far apart the different locations were, when they don't tend to go into too many specifics, it's easy to get the impression that they are all relatively close. Knowing most of the locations you realise that they aren't particularly close at all.

As said anyone unfamiliar with the area would think the locations used were close. Tees Eggelstone Bishop Aukland water. Fished that bit many times during the 80 and 90's. My one if two Tees salmon came from that area. Esk not exactly sure somewhere below Glaisdale. As kids travelling by train and later as a car owning teenager the lealome Glaisdale area was our favourite location. Never a game licence holder always fishing looking over my shoulder for Mr Cook the balif. Younger people wouldnt believe the ease at which we removed salmon from the Esk from July onwards. Think one of the places they stayed was Chequers up above Osmotherly. Ride it frequently during summer. Chris Rea a testament to medical science and his own resolve. Used to see him in an Aston near Chop Gate when out walking. Always got a return wave. All in all lived it.
