Hi lads, thought I'd quickly put this up, we've had two reports of really good pike coming out within the last week or so, and here's my two penneth for what it's worth. The most recent capture was done correctly, and will hopefully insure that fish doesn't suffer undue attention from other anglers, and that's how it should be, a Tees 20 these days is a extremely special fish these days. The other fish was reported in a unwise way imho, but and I'm not condoning at all how it was reported and put on social media, in the interest of trying to be objective and remove some of the blame from that angler, that peg has been put up on YouTube by another angler almost on a weekly basis, showing it producing quite a few pike of different weights, so in my eyes the damage had already been done by that angler. I know Dan personally through fishing and have met him quite a few times on the bank, I can safely say he is no instant angler he walks miles and miles of river bank in all weather's searching out fish with his lures, his fish care is also beyond reproach. He has only just started dead baiting for pike, and I imagine like all of us he has done some research, seen the videos and thought that peg is producing I'll give it a go, is it a peg I would target now? No not really but I wouldn't dismiss it either, if I was just starting out and wanted to have a good chance of a fish would I target that peg 100% I would, and I believe most others would also. We all like to share our pics of that special fish, be it chub, barbel, roach, perch or pike, we inhertinley do it because we're proud of what we've accomplished and getting a pat on the back and a well done from fellow anglers is always nice and another reason why we post them. Yes Dan was a bit foolish but I think the excitement and joy of the moment and the capture took over and scrambled his brain lol, let's hope he takes on board the comments offered by far more experienced pike anglers and follows them πππ

The constructive criticism should of been taken onboard really, itβs all for 5 minutes of fame. Thereβs loads of apps out there now, this is how you can post a pike of the background is obvious. Protect the pike and protect your fishing.

Cheers Mick. Yeah I take everything required, long reach fox cutters, forceps and pliers, always a good rubber net, mat, just smaller when lure fishing. I wouldn't have the pike out of water for the 3.5mins i did any other time. I rested her well, i couldn't record much at that point it rained and the peg was getting shockingly muddy. But yeah I've walked all the atdac and club stretches now, some a few times over, some are jungle warfare and early summer they were barely touched when we were allowed to fish again. I'd seen the YouTube fella show the same pegs on multiple occasions too, way before i bothered checking out that particular stretch tbh. I'll definitely blur out any future big catches just incase. Sorry if I've annoyed anyone. Sure I showed the peg with the sunken tree visible, but most won't know that area at all
