Finished work earlier than thought headed to a more local club stretch on Swale didn't get there till 5pm messed about with maggots while feeding a nice inside bank glide with bits of meat and pellet 8pm barbel rid out , 820 pm massive wrap round resulting in long fight with surprising strong flow and a good barbel again im being lucky with average size between 8 and 10lb
Quiet for hour then another wrap round resulting in a much prettier but smaller at about 6lb barbel bonus few hrs wasn't expecting well chuffed .
Il ask Danny as always to post pics if he gets chance then must figure out how to do it

Cheers lads I think iv nailed Barbel fishing now and can go out each time fairly confident ,mainly thanks to sound advice on here , some of whom still frequent the forum bud sadly quite a few who seem to have gone .
I owe everyone who helped a big thanks cause to me its pinacle of freshwater fishing , the times of day , the scenery ,the effort needed , and most of all those bites and initial runs for me anyway no other freshwater fish in UK gives you that as much as a strong good sized barbell in Lacey water , with possibly exception of big like which IV never fished for but intend to this winter

Brilliant angling again,Andy. Agree, some good and helpful lads on here don't seem to post anymore which is a shame. I think the most successful anglers, for any species, are those who put in the time and effort and often at unsocial hours when it's the best time for the fish but not for work and family commitments. Right place and right time coupled with good watercraft are essential but I think good old fashioned enthusiasm is just as important especially when anglers like us have to suffer lots of blanks and knock backs especially during the winter months. As has been said many times, you won't catch if you're sat watching telly, get out there and give it a go. Well done mate and get yourself a decent camera and sort out those photos,it'll make your reports so much better especially when catching fish like that .

It's just leg work and obsession bud ,they do seem less spread out for some reason but this also means when you find em can end up getting numerous fish which through walking long distances and trying ever likely looking swim iv done .
When you find em they feed just as always

Could be time to have another go? tees barble are make believe robin, they dont exist, i was down the other night and saw a unicorn, tinkerbell, an attractive model who said mick was handsome, and had a chat with lord lucan, nice chap, while he was sat on shergar drinking out the holy grail....... but no barble
