Iv tried of late to get into a few syndicates and it always seems you get told yeah if a place comes up we will let you know , or we only accept responsible like minded anglers , baffles me cause the coat of joining most syndicates ain't gonna be many numpties join . And that's where I get sick for the price of most syndicates iv looked at you could join 3 or four clubs which in turn gives you access to some reasonable Stillwater's and mile upon mile of great rivers , tbf it's only the lack of decent day ticket tench fishing iv even thought of it , but from now on il stick to clubs im in

The cost of most means that they certainly aren't for everyone. However, any syndicate that you can join at any time of year without any wait is either a new one, isn't particularly good (yet), isn't really a syndicate, or you've been very lucky with your timing. Most syndicates have their renewals at a certain time of year. If you try to join outside of renewal time, or if they have any kind of waiting list, you are inevitably going to have to wait. The most desirable syndicates cost thousands and have waiting lists that might run to decades rather than years. Fortunately, most in our area tend to run in the hundreds rather than thousands and I've not heard of too many that have waiting lists beyond a few years. There are some clubs, not necessarily locally, that are harder to get into than most syndicates.
For many years I was of a similar mind to you. Ten years ago I got the opportunity to join a young syndicate on my doorstep. At the time I joined, there wasn't a great deal to get excited about beyond it being on my doorstep, secure, limited numbers and a nice venue. Ten years later, it's still got all of that, coupled with some stonking fish of various types. Considering the amount I fish, the fact that travel and day ticket costs are almost wiped out, and the very limited numbers fishing, I don't begrudge a penny of the cost. Barring disaster, I suspect I'll still be a member until I'm no longer able to fish. I also found that being a member of this syndicate got me the opportunity to join a particular river syndicate. This syndicate was surprisingly cheap and I maintained my membership for quite a few years. Recently I decided to drop it simply because I found I just wasn't fishing it. It certainly wasn't the cost that stopped me though. With it being such a reasonable price, I dread to think what the waiting list is like.

Yeah and tbf Sam the sydnicates iv looked at are venues that would only interest me say April to June ,no lake or pond holds any interest for me when rivers are open , there's only Tench I'd aim for from a lake , bream are boring ,carp im sickened of over years , and perch and pike hold little interest and there's nuff off them on rivers
With regards to tench iv found Kendal angling club for next year that has a lovely venue with modest stick of big Tench , lillies n stuff it's perfect and a nice drive could stay that way couple of days , and a venue in Beverly , iv had options to join syndicates over years and come to conclusion just ain't my thing im glad too coz I'd of blown a stack of dosh

Probably not worth the effort or expense unless the venue is much better and much closer than the alternatives. You'd also need to be fishing it at least twice a week in that period or it's probably just not worth the expense. I've already had my money's worth, but I've fished every day, bar three, since we were allowed back.
