Had a good drive yesterday and fished selley bridge 7am till mid afternoon. Heavy rain giving way to gales and bright sun . It's a beautiful lake and the weed although bad in places not as bad as in mid to late June when it's literally more like a field to naked eye .
Fished casters over hemp , and caught few tench and literally dozens of rudd , switched to decent sized bits of meat , picked up couple of tench maybe 3lb at a push , one with horrific mouth damage .
Then took one solitary ugly carp off the top on a soft hooker pellet .
Then went on feeding 4ml pellets and 8ml banded on hook , all together had 27 tench biggest 3lb , one carp ,and too many Rudd , that place is a weird one it's amazing as you won't find a lake with more tench in in the country I reckon , iv had em to 6lb in past years and I also believe there's huge tench in there as iv seen them roll , but it's too weedy to target them properly , and the Rudd are just a nightmare and for every decent one u get there's twenty three inch first .
I also saw a small shoal of huge bream It's a great place tho for one or two trips a year , but go in may or early June after that the lake is a field
