Scenic but to far to be worth it

Went to Queen Mary's yesterday , nice place scenic good access and a wild feel to it . Small lake already quite weeded up and deeper end didn't see very accessable ,so decided on big lake . Large tree lined on few sides but featureless lake just vast for a pond . Anyway found few tench fizzing in a corner and caught two straight off must be unlucky as lumps in there but both of mine arround pound and three quarters.

Went dead at 10am ,apart from periodic finger sized perch on maggot , saw few very substantial carp milling arround too , got bored and left at tea time .

In summing up if it was near home I'd have few trips but it isn't worth the treck on the off chance of a big tench .

It's not a patch on Wingate

The bigger tench are in the weedy figure of eight pond.

Cheers Sam it didn't seem very accessible guess I need to scope it out more , is that syndicate you go to taking any new members I'd love somewhere reliable for resent tench

You are a just a fraction too late. It wasn't full until the last week or so. Our membership year starts on April the 1st, but the current situation put us back a little in getting a few renewals and new members.

Ok bud no prob cheers , and on the figure of 8 lake at queen Mary's how u get to the deeper end didn't look like any pegs down that end

There are at least two or three. One is a bit chewy to get to along the fence line and over a small stile. The others are through the gate in the fence and turn right. With the lack of fishing, the paths may not be very obvious yet.
