I can't help much, I'd generally prefer to have my wisdom teeth extracted via my bumhole than leger. I fished it a few times last year but never had to resort to the lead. From what I saw of others fishing, I doubt it matters too much which method you use.

Yeah it will be probably crap but if I don't get out the house il self implode I've caught tench every time I visited QMP, bar once. That once was when I made a conscious effort to fish an area that I didn't really fancy. I did nothing more complex than float fish maggots, sometimes with a bit of groundbait. IIRC, I also had the odd one on sweetcorn. I'd suggest that you don't worry too much about baits or methods, they never struck me as being that fussy. The one thing I did learn was that the middle of the day was generally poor, especially on a bright day. Stick to early mornings and evenings, unless you are prepared to be rather bored for quite a while. It's the type of venue that appears to be dismal if you stick to standard match hours (10-3ish).

Anywhere I know of with tench fishing as good, or better, is more distant. Selley Bridge, Langthorne, Welham and QMP might fit the bill, but I'd sooner fish this water than any of them, especially in the current situation.
