Hi there , I’ve just joined the forum and look forward to contributing. I was an avid Tees and Swale angler for many years fishing both rivers from the 1960’s onwards aswell as sea angling from both boat and shore before turning to pike and carp in the 70’s and 80’s fishing many venues in England and Scotland both freshwater and salt . For perhaps the last 15/20 years I’ve concentrated mainly on sea angling and tournament casting becoming a Sea Angler magazine casting instructor and assisting in the running of our local club the North East Surfcasting Association , but due to a back injury I find myself going full circle and going back to my roots chasing the chub and barbel on our local rivers , travelling light visiting swims I haven’t fished for nearly 50 years. It’s given me a real buzz to get back out there and I’m looking forward to walking the rivers ( I’ve already started as an aid to recovery from my injury ) and seeing if the great grandkids of the chub and barbel I used to catch are now frequenting those swims .

Thanks for the welcome lads . Yes BriC I used to cast at Kirkleathem both in competition and the Thursday night practices , right up until the council made it difficult for us to stage events on the field . The club has since acquired the use of 3 or 4 large fields up at Consett and relocated . I have a feeling I may have given casting lessons to one or two of the members of this forum over the years .

I’ve seen a couple names on here I think I know and I’ve used my usual forum name so some might recognise me from that . Looking forward to contributing to the site once I’m sorted .

Once you get to five posts you'll see the rest of the board open up, some good reading to be had, recognise your username from the wsa site, think like me you live in Redcar seem to remember, if I'm wrong just blame the lack of brain cells

Welcome along bob. Great to see that you’ve got the angling buzz again, hopefully bump into you on the bank soon.
Had a great time learning OTG casting from you, I was hitting 140 yards within half an hour of practice. Granted though, I had hurricane force winds behind me 😂
