Went to selley bridge pond today, was going to be Thursday but weather supposed to be crap, £6 for 1 rod plus £2 for extra rod, nice peaceful place, withn 1 min of first cast a tench 1 and 1/2 lb 5 mins later float shot off, eventually landed a beautiful common 12lb, then tench after tench on worm, average 3 too 4 lbs and a pb 5lb 1oz, tried maggot castors for a while which resulted in loads of rud, tried hinders pellets, tench went nuts for them , reckon andy would have had a stiffy if he was here. Stopped counting after 20, fished from 2/30 to 9/30, will be back defo

I did deduce yesterday tench are thick, I caught the same fish 3 times, it had a badly damaged mouth on the bottom left lip, prob some arse hole using barbs, caught it twice on worm then on banded pellet, you can imagine what it was thinking, " I'm not eating worms il try a pellet...... ffs I don't believe it"! There are some big lumps in there too, some nice photos in the shed where you pay (honesty box) not crowded either, just 3 of us, don't know about weekends tho

Fished it few times bud much same as day you've had minus the carp, sadly I may of been unlucky but quite a lot of bigger tench had awful mouth damage, historic as healed but spoilt another wise amazing couple of trips.
I may of just hit a lot of damaged fish while thousands probs fine but put me off and haven't returned

Lol Iv come to conclusion nearly all heavily stocked lake fish are thick Steve.
Iv caught same carp few times in day at morndyke clearly identifiable as half a Gill plate missing, first time foul hooked, second time less than hour later on grain of corn topped with red maggot, then floating bread in evening.
Think river fish are genuine wild creatures that aren't pressured, and have time to develop some instinct of sorts, but I don't believe many fish could ever be considered intelligent lol

Yeah bud I was unlucky, last trip I was there I caught some tiny tench too, they breed prolifically in there.
I may have a day there before it weeds up a lot.
On verge of joining Bradford no 1, read loads of good stuff bout it.
Good session bud it's a lovely place

Steve when there last was only me and few others on, I had bit crack with old dude fishing. He said the problem is since old bloke passed away, his misses collects money, and has a walk round but no one polices it at all.
And on weekend and summer holidays it's pegged out and lots of kids and numpties fish it, as you say great big hooks likely barbed, and often removed harshly.
Also numerous peoole again will try for big carp in there, there's few to go at, and method feeder novice carp lads who don't care for tench won't do them favours either. For anyone who likes bream god knows why lol, there's meant to be a small shoal of huge ones in there all doubles
