Fieldson's pond is on the outskirts of Bishop Auckland and was created by a farmer as a commercial fishery but it never really took off. The fishing was never easy and eventually it was taken over by a club to try and make a go of it but they gave up aswell. Nature's now taken over, vegetation is head high,a right battle to get to the water's edge. It looked like the sunset might be good but the weather turned into gale force winds followed by heavy rain so I made a hasty retreat after taking a couple of shots. A typical British summer's night.

Is this the one opposite the George Reynolds industrial? Fished it once when I was a kid, ferryhill water then, had only small stuff but saw huge shoals of big bream

No mate,it's further down past the scrap yard on the left on the way to Tindale before the Gaunless. Must be 15 years since I fished it,I might have the name wrong! There was a lot of work done on the pond you're talking about but heard nothing of it for ages.

You on about fylands ponds? I'm pretty sure fieldsons is the one at shildon.
Never fished fylands pond, my dad reckons that when he was a kid, which is a lot of years ago, there was Pike in there, apparently used to catch Minnows from the gaunless to use for the Pike, I did walk around it once with it being 2 mins away from my house, with a fella catching perch after perch but that's it.
Moving to the gaunless, do you know if anyone actually fishes it and what to expect? Iv seen salmon and sea trout back end of the year, and some huge Browns behind King James school, just wondered if there was anything else, if you have any idea?

Yep,you're right it's Fylands pond not Fieldsons. Heard tales of The Gaunless in the West Auckland area but don't know if any are true.
