Nice place mark, probably a lot better now though, I'm going back a few years since I was camping on there. Remember rolling out the club house at 3.30 one morning lol. Was blowing a fooking hooly and I woke up in the middle of the field in my sleeping bag as the tent had blown away lol

Hi Basha Like i was telling you when we went alot and and fished off the rock points we parked up in the car park went to the left over nice cut grass picnic area walk to very point got comfy set light float gear up and caught good pollack, Wrasse, gars,Mackerel, mullet there are all sorts to be seen i seen a big anger fish swim over the sand bottom from one rock face to the over side of the little bay.. I love fishing the West coast and sea lochs. So i don't no if you can still fish there but loads of place and in and around the Burrow head , are the fisherman Carabeners or some thing like that they where called all on the outside area edge to the sea will hope to get back up there for a week or so..

now keith. its all changed now bud,a lot more modern,i remebe when we first went up there 20 odd yrs ago the fishermans cabins were nothing more than garden sheds, and it used to have a pond on sight with fish in.no longer there now but its well run by stuart and neil who are the sons of the people who used to run it.club house with a fantastic cafe and very cheap and huge plate fulls,no need to cook for yourself unless you want a silly o clock brekky.well run sight now, only downfall is the water you have to really boil it a few times before drinking but we buy bottled anyways, its fine for bathing washing pots etc.i love the place and have done for nearly 30 yrs.

Few of the lads have said the fishing isn't as prolific as it was years ago lads? Used to love fishing east Tarbert, the end of the mull, cairn head and mull Hill.

i think the mull has declined kev,not so much for species but size.we were often gettin pollock in the 5/7lb bracket with the odd 8/9lb'r in the mix but average size now is 2/5lb,still cant grumble at fish of that quality mind you.i think the bass fishing has improved, thornbacks have declined.wrasse are still humongous.love tarbet/logan just to rite of the fish pond is were we found the odd thorny's and huss.its a damb shame about cairn ryan with all the oyster dredging but its banned on there now as is the digging of bait, going to take a while to recoup itself.garliston is one area that a lot of lads ignore yet the silvers are abundant if you know were to look.burrowhead is pretty consistant,i think it just depends on the season how its going to fish but ive always done well even when we went beginning of the year when the water was cold i did really well with a fish a chuck, nothing mamoth but good fun all same.trying tarbet/mull for the conger aswell as burrowhead, plenty of traces made up with youdge hooks and 80lb wire at the ready, biggest so far is 28lb from gantry's on ryan and that wasnt a good feeling at daft hours o clock in the morning thrashing around all over, almost had us in the brink so had to sit on it.

Cairn ryan used to produce some cracking conger, I had one on that I lost, gutted mate. Had some nice pollock from clanyard bay mark. Colvend was known for good fish but don't know what these places are like now. Auchenlarie caravan site beach used to be notorious for decent bass too. Been a long long time since I fished up there mate.
