Free stretch at Blackwell is on the left bank if you are facing downstream. Parking at Blackwell is safe and a 2 min walk down to river. Very easy access.

Just had an email back from Stockton and they don't allow night fishing on any or their waters.
Just as well I checked!

I hope I'm not breaking any rules posting the contents of the email...

Hi Sorry for the delay in replying. We did allow night fishing but the farmers strongly object to it and we now do not allow it.

I'm still looking for somewhere to go if anyone has any other suggestions, haven't had chance to have a wander down Blackwell yet. Someone did say to me that Blackwell and Broken Scar are for residents of Darlington only, is that correct?

There's croft free stretch Scott above bridge to the river skerne it's only a short stretch but less than a minute walk and cars just behind you . I wouldn't worry about it if you're not from Darlington And want to fish Blackwell or broken scar

Someone did say to me that Blackwell and Broken Scar are for residents of Darlington only, is that correct? Some misunderstandings seem to have occurred in recent posts about night fishing on Stockton Angling waters. There isn’t a blanket ban.
Steve Targett was absolutely correct when he said that we used to allow it but at the request of some of our landlords we’d had to ban it due to the activities of lampers, thieves etc.
Our landlords were not accusing Stockton Angling members but they were in a position where access routes passed close to their farmhouses and they could not differentiate between a member and undesirables.
Stockton Angling has some excellent waters where night-time angling is acceptable and some very experienced and responsible night fishing members who don’t disturb farmers or local people. These anglers also act as ‘eyes on the river’ and are an asset in deterring overnight poaching.
All we ask is that new and old members alike act responsibly by being quiet and unobtrusive and by respecting the property and privacy of local people living near the river or the access paths.
Stretches that can be night fished will be identified when new members join.

Im filling up here, never been called responsible before :-) Its great time to be on the bank, Best bit about the barmy few is we all communicate with each other, Its nice to know some nights that another like minded angler or should i say Nutter is not to many yards away. You never know when trouble will strike, and its good to have somebody close to hand to act as back up, Take a foto, Even push your car off a grass verge. Here's to the Tees valley Barbel hunters!!!!!!!!!! Great bunch of lads. That's a catchy name that, mite pinch it.
