Looks spot on that Jim think everyone must have the problem with the 506 when hooking bigger fish, i've had a few 2 and half pound chub and some poundish grayling on mine and it really isn't comfortable with them at all, just feels like its being put under way to much pressure, and its them occasions when it certainly isn't a joy to use, you will have to let us know how the new 507 performs in anger mate whats the cost ??
The difference is, on the 506 MK II, the drag system worked by the cup rotating as a fish took line, which to me felt awkward as though it was back winding. On the new 507 MK II, the cup and pin remain stationary when a fish takes line and the spool has the drag, letting line off under pressure, and this feels quite smooth. Feels a lot more like a normal reel.
Hopefully on Sunday I'll put it to test with a chub or two on the stick
