Just been comparing the 15ft acolyte against the 15ft floatmaster. First thing you notice is just the weight difference, I've always seen the floatmaster as a pretty light rod and yet this knocks a couple of ounces off it.
Second difference is the action. The floatmaster is softer and a more through actioned tip, whereas the acolyte seems quick and tippy.
Bending it all the way through, they both have a great action with reserves of power, towards the middle and butt sections. However, there's something just slightly nicer with the acolyte. Hard to describe - but bear in mind the floatmaster is a combo rod, 13-15ft and involving a longer section between the handle and the Middle section, whereas the acolyte is specifically a 15ft rod of equal pieces.
I've always been a massive fan of the floatmaster but can't wait to give the acolyte a whirl on the river. I think it's ideal for trotting for dace and roach, with bonus chub not beyond its means. Would work well for bream in the deeper reaches as well I reckon.
