turbine will unsettle it for a while most definitely.eventually it will come into its own,it will produce warmer water around the turbines which will draw the fish up in the colder months were normally they wouldn't pull up that far but it will take a while to settle.its the fact its such a stunning pool and I personally love the sound of that weir pool when im fishing it.the sill of that weir if you dnt mind losing tackle can be exceptional on its day.turbine will put a holt to that.ide like to see if they are going to restrict you to a set limit as to were you can fish aswell.
theres a lot more against than for it.me ide personally like to see it abolished but to many people with money signs in there head.

I think ide rather keep a stunning stretch of river how it is than have 10 grand in the bank.if they ruin that stretch they will find that some members will disappear.i know lads who join leeds just for topcliff alone.ide like to see them try to replace it with a water as prolific, specially round these parts.although the flow cant be restricted it still has to carry the same volume, the total structure, layout, contours will be effected so the flow will be different downstream.what runs we know will disappear or be changed so dramatic I reckon a lot of the fish will pull further downstream.we'll have to wait and see but its a damb shame to see it go in.breaking the skyline with wind farms is bad enough stuck of redcar now they spoiling a local beuty spot aswell.

Do Leeds own Toppy outright ?? i thought it was leased ?? if its leased why would Leeds be gettin the 10 grand and not the landowner they lease it off ??

yes michael, leeds own topcliffe outright, can you believe they bought it for £5000. (yes 5 grand)? i,ve spoken to the guy whos grandmother sold the stretch to leeds, he told me that £5000. was a massive sum at the time of sale and made front page headlines... wonder what its worth now?

AHhhh right, a lot lot more i wouldn't even like to guess ? so if leeds own the rights outright why don't they allow night fishing seems mad as theres not really anyone or anything close by that night fishing would affect, i always thought it wasn't allowed because they leased the river and it was a stipulation of the lease, do they own the bank as well ?? if not maybe thats why

cant understand why mick.seems daft that lads sitt there the night before opening day for a peg but cant put a line in the water baffles hell outa me cos they still sat on the land anyways unless that's illegal to do aswell.
another rule that gets me is this night fishing ticket on bradfords book.maunby you can night fish but have to pay xtra for night ticket.can understand it if its a private carp lake or summit but suppose its all about pound signs again.you might only ever want to do one seshion in a season but have to buy the ticket that covers all yr.

Yeh i agree mate, but as you say its all pound signs, wonder what would happen if you fished till dusk then brought your rods in slept on the bank and put the rods back in at dawn, you wouldnt be fishing at night just spending the night on the bank ??

i emailed graham park about topcliffe/hydro, earlier (leeds secretary) his reply............
"Hi Shane
We own the fishing rights and the three cornered field on the left bank. The right bank I am not so sure about, I believe we own the fishing rights but not sure about land and that is the bank they want to construct the hydro system.
Regards Graham"

The hydro scheme will be on the south side of the bank opposite the flats in the Old Mill House. It will completely screw up the river flow and will lead to siltation below the weir and like many places where these things have been built will ruin the fishing. I was talking to a resident from the Mill last year and they are gutted it got approval. However, I understood that the land UK Hydro would need to take construction traffic over does not belong to Leeds and the farmer will not grant access as he opposes the plan. fingers crossed eh lads.be a shame to see such a prolific water ruined.for the peeps who have to look at it, they wont benefit from it one bitt either.all these xtra gadgets turbines spoiling our waterways/turbines on the horizon of our local beaches and moorland and we still get charged the earth for our leccy.
