Hi all so for those that don't know me I'm Mick, and this is my forum. I'm glad you've all been enjoying it and thanks for not abusing it, I've just cleared some Chinese nonsense lol, hopefully when I get time I'll do a data clear out which will allow you all to post pics again. So where have I been ? Well unfortunately fishing took a back seat as in May 2023 I was diagnosed with cancer, more specifically a tumour the size of a canalope melon had grown on my right kidney, I was taken for life saving open surgery in June and had both tumour and kidney removed, I was seriously ill afterwards and developed all sorts of complications as the tumour had stuck itself to my lung liver and diaphragm causing me extensive breathing problems, I'm currently still recovering and I am now officially classed as disabled π’ I'm undergoing immunotherapy on the chemo ward at James cook but that to has brought its own side effects and caused my lungs to inflame so badly only a quarter of my lungs were working, I'm now on 14 steroids a day for 6 weeks and they do thankfully seem to be working at clearing my lungs up. Anyway I've took advantage of my disabled status and joined several clubs this year at much reduced cost, Bradford city, Leeds and YDAA so hopefully I'll get back out soon and get back to posting on here, I'm back at hospital today for more ct scans and stuff so hopefully get some good news !!! Cheers all and happy new year. Mick.

Glad to see that youβre on the mend Mick. The forum has been a little quiet, however there is a strong group that keeps it going.
Iβm glad to see that youβve got some wonderful fishing to look forward too, which means I and the guys should see some quality catches.
Good luck with everything Mick.

Good luck with the recovery. It sounds like a fair excuse for not fishing and taking a break from the forum. Tight lines for whenever you manage to get out.

Blimey, Mick, I thought I'd had a bad year in 2023, but you've outdone me. I too had a kidney out to remove a tumour and got a complication as a result. That was bad enough and really knocked me off my feet, but it was clearly only a mini version of what you're going through.
All the very best as you work your way through the various rounds of treatment and look forward to fishing days yet to come.
Paul
